Interjection
An interjection is a word
class (or part of speech) that explains the feeling, sentiment or emotion
of the writer.
Interjections
are normally followed by an exclamation mark (!) to express emotion.
≫ Interjections are not normally used in
formal writing.
≫ They are common in speech (and
therefore informal and fiction writing), where they show emotions such as
anger, surprise and interest as well as convey hesitation.
Interjections express a sudden mood, emotions, and
feeling
→ What? You
never said to me that!
→ Wow! That’s
a wonderful picture.
→ Aw, you
did not want him to come.
Some interjections express only yes or no
→ Yes! He
will most certainly do it.
→ No, They
are not leaving.
→ Nah,
They are not leaving.
Some interjections interrupt a discussion or a
thought or hold attention for a moment. These are just sounds, not words
because these sounds do not make any sense.
→ His pants, uh,
has a stain (داغ) on the front.
→ She
wants to, um, ask you a question.
