Active and Passive Voice

The active voice are easier to understand the passive voice. Switching the passive voice into the active voice and active into passive require a bit of practice. Notice that the tense of the verb to be form in the passive voice is always the same as the tense of the main verb form in the active voice. In order to use the active voice, you will have to make the subject of the action explicit.

Present Simple Tense
Active Voice S + V1
Passive voice S + am / is / are + V3
ACTIVE
PASSIVE
He plays cricket.
Cricket is played by him.
I make a cake.
A cake is made by me.
Negative Sentence
They donot clean the room.
The room is not cleaned by them.
Aslam does not bring mangoes.
Mangoes are not brought by Aslam.
Lisa donot practice English.
English is not practiced by Lisa.
Interrogative / Question Sentence
Does she watch TV?
Is TV watched by her?
Do Aslam and Yaqoob not plant some trees?
OR
Don’t Aslam and Yaqoob plant some trees?
Are some trees not planted by Aslam and Yaqoob?
OR
Aren’t some trees planted by Aslam and Yaqoob?

Present Continuous Tense
Active voice S + am/is/are + V4
Passive S + am/ is/ are + being + V3
ACTIVE
PASSIVE
He is playing cricket.
Cricket is being played by him.
I am making a cake.
A cake is being made by me.
Negative Sentence
They are not cleaning the room.
The room is not being cleaned by them.
Aslam is not bringing mangoes.
Mangoes are not being brought by Aslam.
Lisa is not practicing English.
English is not being practiced by Lisa.
Interrogative / Question Sentence
Is she watching TV?
Is TV being watched by her?
Are Aslam and Yaqoob not planting some trees?

NOTE: won’t will not [we can use wont instead of will not]

 NOTE: won’t will not [we can use wont instead of will not]

Future with BE GOING TO
Active voice S + am/ is/ are + going to + V1
Passive voice S + am/ is/ are + going to be + V3
Active and passive voice example:
Active
He is going to read the book.

Passive
The book is going to be read by him.

Future Perfect with BE GOING TO
Active voice S + am/ is/ are + going to + have + V3
The Passive S + am/ is/ are + going to + have + been + V3
Example:
Active
I am going to have completed my article by the end of this month.

Passive

My article is going to have been completed by the end of this month.

Past Simple
Active voice S + V2
Passive voice S + was/ were + V3

The Passive S + had + been + V3

Example:
Active
She had read the article before her mother came.

Passive
The article had been read by her before her mother came.

First, second and third form of READ is READ but second and third form pronoun as red.

Future in the Past (Would)
Active voice S + would + V1
Passive S + would + be + V3
Example:
Active
He would type the article.
Passive
The article would be typed by him.


Modal Verbs (Present)
Active voice S + modal verb + V1
Passive S + modal verb + be + V3
Example:
Active
You can solve the problem.
Passive

The problem can be solved.
